Engine Services and Replacement
Need an engine?
Having car trouble is never a good thing but hearing that you need a new engine might be the worst thing to your ears. Like most people, your first thought is to buy a new vehicle. Before you do that explore all your choices of engine replacement, you might be surprised at the cost savings compared to buying a new vehicle and those hidden cost.
Island Street Automotive has a few options when quoting out an engine replacement, used or remanufactured engine. But what is the difference?
USED ENGINE
A used engine is typically removed from a wrecked vehicle or a vehicle that had other mechanical damage that was not worth fixing and was sent to a junk yard. The engine most likely has low mileage and is in decent condition. This is commonly the cheapest way of replacement if you can find a used engine for sale. A used engine comes with a basic warranty, of 1-year parts and labor, but we can add additional coverage for an added cost.
REMANUFACTURED ENGINE
A remanufactured engine closely matches a new engine from the manufactured factory without the cost. Most internal parts are replaced with new quality parts to meet the manufacturers standards and specifications. Once assembled these engines are tested to confirm that they are up to original production standards. These engines do come with an extended warranty of 3 years/100,000-mile parts and labor warranty, typically lasting longer than a used engine, but will cost more to install.
